About the Programme

Consistent with the mission of the University of West Attica and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the SES Programme is designed to educate future sustainable engineering managers with interdisciplinary and practical knowledge in order to:

  • Make a successful career as an engineering manager in business, government, non-profits, universities, labs, consulting firms, or the private sector.
  • Serve society by developing new ideas and improving products and services in a variety of settings.
  • Encourage not only their professional expertise but also their ongoing social knowledge and skill development.

In more detail the MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems aims:

  1. to provide specialization within the topic sustainability by the offered individual modules
  2. to particular focus on the energy industry and the required transition to meet the sustainability goals
  3. to offer combined practical and theoretical course-knowledge elements in the field of sustainable energy systems
  4. to prepare young generations for the professions related to consulting, public relations and applied research and development within topics related to sustainable energy
  5. to enable postgraduates to operate in multidisciplinary contexts
  6. to support postgraduates to develop problem-solving skills and the ability to apply such skills in developing innovative solutions to society’s practical needs and
  7. to encourage postgraduates to pursue their dreams and career goals by enhancing a wide range of personal skills, qualities and experiences.

SES program also foresees research growth, as within the MSc programme context, specific taught courses as well as independent research set the foundations for an academic career and /or PhD study.

For this purpose, the publication of the results of the students’ research work in international journals and/or conferences is widely supported.

  • Duration: up to 2 years / 4 semesters
  • Application Deadline: Rolling admissions (January and September)
  • (5) core modules, (3) compulsory elective modules – (2) specialisation courses – (1) energy dissertation, 120 ECTS
  • Weekday classes (Friday and Saturday between 18:00 – 22:00, 08:30 -14:30) twice per week
